San Diego’s first of its kind Home Electrification Fair will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center. This free event is open to all county residents who want to learn more about reducing energy bills, improving indoor air quality, and minimizing environmental impact by electrifying their home or building. Attendees can expect to leave the event understanding the core elements of home electrification and efficiency, including heat pump heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters, induction cooking, electric vehicle charging, ventless electric clothes dryers, and solar energy systems and batteries. Vendors will be on hand to provide information about the health and cost-saving benefits of electrification and how to opt for 100 percent renewable electricity. Numerous resources for planning, implementing, and funding home electrification projects will be provided, including how to obtain rebates and tax credits.
Attendees will have a chance to speak directly with representatives from equipment suppliers, service providers, building contractors, utilities, incentive programs, community programs, and local governments to understand how home or building electrification can benefit you. Individuals with experience electrifying their homes will be available to share their knowledge and explain what electrifying means in practical terms, including a seminar by an expert from the Home Energy Academy from 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
After the event, stick around Encinitas to attend two green home tours facilitated by the San Diego Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council California. The tours will provide attendees with a visual demonstration of efficient, electrified homes.
