Multiple Casualties and Injuries Reported After Vessel Washes Ashore at North Torrey Pines State Beach

Encinitas, CA, May 5, 2025 - On Tuesday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 6:35 a.m. Encinitas, Del Mar, and Solana Beach fire departments, federal and state agencies responded to a report of a vessel that had come ashore just north of Torrey Pines State Beach.

Responders encountered multiple individuals on the beach, three were deceased and four sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical and were transported to local hospitals for further care.

According to one of the surviving patients, there were believed to be 18 individuals aboard the vessel at the time of the incident. Eighteen life jackets were later recovered on the beach, further supporting this account.

The situation has been turned over to State Homeland Security and the California Border Patrol for further investigation.
