CYCLOVIA ENCINITAS ROLLS ONTO COAST HIGHWAY 101

Encinitas, CA, May 7, 2025 – Imagine Coast Highway 101 without cars – just people, bikes, music, and fun! Cyclovia Encinitas returns Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., transforming South Coast Highway 101 from D Street to I Street into a vibrant, car-free promenade. This free, family-friendly event invites residents and visitors to walk, ride, roll, and connect in the heart of downtown Encinitas.

In addition to exploring local shops and dining along iconic Coast Highway 101, attendees can practice skills at the bike rodeo, ride the temporary pump track, get creative at the bike and helmet decorating station, experience the NCTD “Bikes on Buses” Open House, visit interactive information booths, and take advantage of the free bike valet.

Event Highlights Include:

  • San Diego County Bicycle Coalition-hosted bicycle safety rodeo
  • San Diego Mountain Bike Association-hosted pumptrack
  • Bike and helmet decorating station
  • NCTD “Bikes on Buses” Open House
  • Free bike parking valet
  • Many more interactive informational booths
  • NEW in 2025: Cyclovia Adventure Lab – a digital scavenger hunt with prizes!

“Open street events are held all over the world to encourage active transportation, promote exercise and health, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Nick Buck, City of Encinitas Mobility Manager. “We’re proud that Encinitas Cyclovia is the first of its kind in North County San Diego. Plus, cruising Coast Highway totally free of cars is just so fun too.”

“Cyclovia isn’t just about mobility – it’s about joy,” added Dave Knopp, Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts. “It’s an incredible chance for families to come together, explore downtown, and experience Encinitas in a whole new way.”
