Holiday 2025 Storm Preparedness

Post Date:12/22/2025 10:00 AM

Encinitas, CA — December 2025 — With rain in the forecast around Christmas, the City of Encinitas is proactively preparing for potential storm impacts. City crews will continue to monitor for temporary flooding, remove debris, and respond to urgent issues. During the rains, the City’s Public Works and Wastewater crews will be actively monitoring areas throughout the city and responding to incidents, such as temporary flooding and the removal of fallen trees or branches. The City will have two vac-con trucks available and flood signage will be utilized as needed during the storms.

Prepare Ahead of the Storm

  • Sandbags: Use the City’s self-fillable sandbag stations to protect homes and businesses in flood-prone areas.

  • Stay informed: Sign up for emergency alerts from the County of San Diego and download the Alert San Diego app for real-time notifications and maps.

  • MyEncinitas App: Report non-emergency flooding, fallen trees, and related concerns through the app for tracking and follow-up.

  • Never drive or walk through floodwaters. It takes as little as six inches of moving water to knock a person down, and just a foot of water can carry away a vehicle.

Emergency Contacts

  • For immediate public safety emergencies related to severe flooding or hazards, call 911.

  • For urgent infrastructure emergencies (streets, water, wastewater, parks), call 760-633-2922.
