On September 25, 2024, Ordinance No. 2024-10 was adopted by City Council, creating a comprehensive list of streets with lowered speed limits in the City of Encinitas pursuant to provisions of Assembly Bill No. 43 (AB43).  New speed limit signage was implemented and speed limit enforcement began to further enhance traffic safety.

On May 27, 2026, City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-05, amending Ordinance No. 2024-10, certifying speed limits in the City of Encinitas (City) by adopting all 2025 Engineering and Traffic Surveys (E&TS) and establishing a comprehensive street list for lower speed limits, pursuant to provisions of Assembly Bill 43 (AB 43) and Assembly Bill 382 (AB 382).
