Updated: 02.11.26
PROJECT STATUS
Project design began in late 2022. A CPP meeting was held on June 6, 2023 to collect feedback from the community. The project design and plans were approved by City Council in August 2025. City Council awarded a contract for construction in late January 2026. The project is currently preparing to begin construction, which is anticipated to start in late winter 2025/26 and be complete in late spring 2026.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Glen Park is a day use park located in the community of Cardiff in the City of Encinitas.
The Glen Park ADA Improvements Project will modify the park so that its parking lot and walkways comply with current ADA requirements. Two existing accessible parking spaces within the main parking lot and one near the tennis and basketball courts will be upgraded. The project will also slurry and restripe the main parking lot. Several of the existing walkways will be reconstructed and a new one added. The existing walkway between the main parking lot and the restrooms will be reconstructed as well as a section from the restrooms to the south side of the Scout House. A new walkway will be constructed from the south side of the Scout House down to the Picnic Pavilion. And finally, the existing walkway from the Picnic Pavilion to the playground will be reconstructed. In addition, a French drain will be constructed at the eastern edge of the new walkway to the Picnic Pavilion so that it can intercept overland runoff coming from Newcastle Ave, which has been creating a persistently wet condition in the grass north of the Picnic Pavilion.
The project work is identified in the City’s ADA Transition Plan and the ADA Self-Evaluation Plan and will address parking and paths of travel.
