PROJECT STATUS

Construction on the project began in March 2024 and was completed in winter 2024/25 with all four intersections operating with the new protected-permissive left turn operations, with flashing yellow arrows.

The project included modifications and improvements to four traffic signals to add protected left turn phasing to the signalized intersections and installation of new traffic signal poles, mast arms, equipment, and ADA compliant pedestrian ramps at all four signalized intersections.

 The four traffic signal locations are the intersections of:

1. Encinitas Boulevard/Vulcan Ave.
2. Leucadia Boulevard/Vulcan Ave.
3. Santa Fe Drive/Scripps Hospital Driveway
4. Leucadia Boulevard/Quail Gardens Drive

The improvements provide enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety, mobility and accessibility.
