PROJECT STATUS

The Santa Fe Eastern Phase project aims to promote connectivity and safe travel for all modes of transportation.  Staff is progressing through the final design of the Eastern Phase project and will return to City Council for Design approval once completed.

ABOUT THE PROJECT 

The project will focus on connection to schools and will improve mobility for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicular traffic, while also improving safety and connectivity. Improvements include the construction of new sidewalks and bike lane infrastructure. The project will also construct new curb, gutter, landscaping and driveways along the corridor. Drainage improvements will be introduced to help capture runoff and promote better conveyance and water quality.

PROJECT BENEFITS & AMENITIES

• Improved mobility and safety throughout the entire corridor, including access to schools, through new bikeways and sidewalks and intersection improvements.

• Added storm water management measures.

• Standard Class II Bike Lanes (Buffered where feasible).

• Educational outreach and active transportation encouragement activities for SDUHSD students to help increase student use of the new bike/walk infrastructure.
