This project is complete and improvements are open to the public.  The California Coastal Commission approved the project in December 2023.  City Council approved the design in January 2024 and awarded a construction contract in August 2024.  Project construction began in November 2024 and was completed in March 2025.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The S. Coast Highway 101 Sidewalk Improvements to Solana Beach (CS22D) Project constructed a sidewalk on the west side of South Coast Highway 101 between the South Cardiff State Beach Parking Lot Entrance and the city limits with Solana Beach where a pedestrian facility did not previously exist.

The project included installation of approximately 675 linear feet of curb and sidewalk, construction of retaining walls along portions of the sidewalk, new curb ramps and crosswalk striping and is in alignment with the City’s Active Transportation Plan.
