Required for any taxi company which operates within the City of Encinitas.

While the City of Encinitas manages the permit process, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department handles all vehicle inspections and issuing of decals.

This permit type is only available as an online application using  Customer Self Service (CSS).

Complete or gather the following forms and save to your computer or device. You will upload these items when you apply through CSS:

• Application - Background
• Application Supplemental
• Authorization to Release Information
• Business Registration
• Certificate - Insurance
• County Taxicab Driver’s ID
• License - Driver’s
• Live Scan Form
• Taxi Meter Inspection
• Taxi Inspection Form
• Vehicle Registration (DMV)

To add additional cabs after a permit has been issued, complete an Application - Additional Cab. At the present time, this process is handled manually (not through CSS). Please follow the instructions on the application.
