The Policy Planning section addresses long-range planning issues; monitors and updates the City's General Plan, specific plans and Local Coastal Program; amends and develops local land use regulations; and addresses regional planning issues affecting Encinitas.

Current Policy Planning Projects

The section works on those projects identified in the City’s Work Program, which is based on the City's Strategic Plan.

Additionally, as funding and resources allow the section works on projects identified in the Planning Commission's work plan. The recommended work plan identifies continuous improvement opportunities, which either align with the City Council approved work program, or leverage from it to accomplish even more.
