Heat Pump Water Heater Application

Required when installing or altering a Heat Pump Water Heater in a residential or non-residential structure. Applications which have acknowledged compliance with all applicable code requirements by completing the One Day Heat Pump Water Heater Checklist will have permits issued within one business day of the time of application.

Within one business day of permit application submittal, a permit will be issued if the following is provided when you apply through Customer Self Service (CSS):

• One Day Heat Pump Water Heater Guidelines (this form)
• Floor plan if installed indoors, site plan if installed outdoors
• California Energy Code Certificate of Compliance (CF1R)
• Application - Supplemental
•  Owner Authorization Affidavit

Permits will not be issued for any non-heat pump water heater, and the applicant will be required to resubmit for a traditional water heater permit with standard review timelines.

If a contractor, electrician or plumber is installing the HPWH, Business Registration within the City of Encinitas will be required. Business Registration is not included in the one business day timeline for HPWH permits. Visit the Business Registration Program for more information.
