PROJECT STATUS

Segment C West and N Coast Hwy 101 Drainage Improvements, between Jupiter Street and La Costa Avenue, began construction in March 2024 with anticipated completion expected in Summer 2026.

Excavation and installation of new 60 and 66-inch storm drainpipe between Jupiter Street and La Costa Avenue is complete.   Crews continue to excavate and install large storm drain cleanout boxes and additional sewer line near Moorgate Road. The water main has been installed from Jupiter Street up to Avocado Street and will continue from Avocado Street to La Costa Avenue.  All storm drain laterals and collector pipes are installed in the southbound median lane.

Crews are preparing the subgrade and base for the southbound median lane and the asphalt installation initially planned for July 17th has been pushed out to July 27th and 28th.  When completed southbound traffic is expected to shift to the newly paved lane next to the median.  Northbound traffic will remain on the east side of the median Curbside parking on the west side will be temporarily restricted.  Parking is available in the parking po areas on the east side where construction of the road has been completed.   Access will be maintained for residents and businesses.  

To date, the Leucadia Streetscape Segment C and the NCH 101 Drainage Project has installed all of the 60-inch, 66-inch and 36-inch storm drainpipe.  Crews will continue installation on the 24-inch storm drainpipe, clean out boxes, storm drain laterals, connector pipes, and new water main.  When the underground facilities are in place, the surface improvements, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, inlets, and driveways, can begin construction. 

Expect traffic control with intermittent lane shift, along with construction related activities and impacts including noise, dust, lighting, and large construction vehicles.  Access to driveways and businesses will be maintained.  Please support our local Leucadia businesses during construction.

    On June 12, 2024 City Council approved additional funding to complete the 60-inch drainage work for the project between Jupiter St. and La Costa Ave.  The additional funding and project scope will extend the construction timeline, with a new completion target date of summer 2026.
