Since June 1998, the Encinitas City Council has recognized the value of an ongoing program whereby nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations have a means of requesting funding from the City to accomplish arts and civic projects. The establishment of the Community Grant Program (CGP), with an annual General Fund allocation and outside donations, has supported numerous projects that have enriched the five communities of Encinitas.

The CGP provides funding in two categories:

Civic: social, recreation, education, health and environment
Arts: visual art, performing arts, arts education, literary arts, etc.

Requests for funding are considered through an application process. To be eligible, organizations must be legally established with nonprofit 501(c)(3) status. Grant Information - Fiscal Year 2025-26

The application period for Fiscal Year 2025-26 grants opened on February 10, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. and closed on February 27, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

Project Eligibility

Projects must occur between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, and must adhere to CGP policy requirements and qualifications.

- City Council recommendation of funding allocations (not funded until approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget)
May 29, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

- Due date for insurance documentation (failure to meet this deadline will result in forfeiture of grant funding)
July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026

Important Information:

Grant Information - Fiscal Year 2024-25

Final funding allocations were awarded by the City Council on April 10, 2024. Grant funds for FY 24/25 are for programs that take place from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

Reimbursement:

The CGP is a reimbursement-based grant program. Funds are reimbursed upon submission of paid invoices, receipts, and other supporting documentation of program expenditures. All reimbursement requests for awarded FY24/25 CGP grants will be due no later than 4:30pm on Friday, June 13, 2025. Reimbursement requests after this date/time may not be granted.
