The City has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO Waste and Recycling Services to provide solid waste collection services in Encinitas for both residential and commercial customers. Current Rates are provided at the bottom of this page. View the City’s Franchise Agreement with EDCO.

Residential

All residential service includes three types of roll-out carts: blue for recycling, green for yard and organic waste, and gray for landfill, available in 35- and 95-gallon sizes.

Commercial

Businesses multi-family properties are required to enroll in trash, recycling, and organics collection services. EDCO services can be customized to fit waste volume and pickup frequency needs. For service inquiries, customers can contact EDCO at (760) 436-4151.

EDCO’s Environmental Efforts

EDCO supports waste diversion with advanced recycling facilities and launched organics recycling in Summer 2021, allowing Encinitas residents and businesses to combine food scraps with green waste in the green organics bin. Prop 218 Public Hearing Information

On May 12, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., the City of Encinitas held a public hearing to consider a proposed increase in solid waste collection service rates for City of Encinitas customers. City Council approved the proposed rate increases. The meeting was conducted utilizing teleconferencing and electronic means consistent with State of California executive orders.
