Trash
If an item can't be reused, donated, repurposed, recycled, or composted, it will ultimately end up in the landfill. Landfills contribute to a range of environmental challenges, from methane emissions and water contamination to soil degradation, not to mention their unsightly appearance and unpleasant odors. With available landfill space in San Diego County running low, it's crucial that we take action now to reduce our reliance on these sites and avoid the need to open new ones. As responsible environmental stewards, we, as Encinitas residents, have a shared responsibility to minimize the waste we send to landfills and protect our community for future generations.
EDCO
The city has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO to provide solid waste collection services in Encinitas for both residential and commercial customers.
Keep Out of the Bin!
The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) provides residents and small businesses with a list of materials which are banned from landfills.
